თედ ჯონასმა იურიდიული განათლება და კვალიფიკაცია მიიღო ამერიკის შეერთებულ შტატებში და მას აქვს საადვოკატო საქმიანობის ლიცენზია ვაშინგტონში, კოლუმბიის ოლქი. ის არის სს „სილქნეტის“ - ინტერნეტის, საკაბელო ტელევიზიისა და სატელეკომუნიკაციო მომსახურების მიმწოდებელი მსხვილი ქართული კომპანიის - სამეთვალყურეო საბჭოს დამოუკიდებელი წევრი. იგი ასევე არის საერთაშორისო იურიდიული ფირმა „დენტონსის“ (Dentons) უფროსი იურიდიული მრჩეველი. თედი 10 წლის განმავლობაში იყო საქართველოში ამერიკის სავაჭრო პალატის დირექტორთა საბჭოს წევრი და ამჟამად უკავია „კავკასიის ბუნების ფონდის“ (კონსერვაციის საერთაშორისო სატრასტო ფონდი, რომელიც მხარს უჭერს საქართველოს, სომხეთისა და აზერბაიჯანის დაცულ ტერიტორიებს) დირექტორთა საბჭოს წევრის თანამდებობა. 2005-2014 წლებში თედი იყო „დი-ელ-ეი პაიპერ საქართველოს“ მმართველი პარტნიორი. კერძო სამართლის სფეროში პრაქტიკის სულ მცირე 25-წლიანი გამოცდილების გარდა, რომლის უმეტესი ნაწილი თედმა წამყვან საერთაშორისო იურიდიულ ფირმებში დააგროვა, თედი ასევე მუშაობდა საერთაშორისო საქმეთა ეროვნულ-დემოკრატიულ ინსტიტუტში, აშშ-ს კონგრესის ორი წევრთან და აშშ-ს ფედერალური სააპელაციო სასამართლოს მოსამართლის თანაშემწედ. თედმა მიიღო კორნელის უნივერსიტეტის ბაკალავრის დიპლომი (B.A.) ისტორიაში 1984 წელს, 1991 წელს კი – კორნელის სამართლის სკოლის იურისპრუდენციის დოქტორის (J.D.) ხარისხი (წარჩინებით). ის ამერიკის შეერთებულის შტატების მოქალაქეა, აქვს საქართველოს მუდმივი ბინადრობა და ცხოვრობს თბილისში.
